Information

A vacuum pump is used in the production of many familiar items such as, incandescent light bulbs, freeze drying of life saving pharmaceuticals, production of high strength metal alloys and many other uses too numerous to mention here. The five factors in selecting a vacuum pump are: pressure, pumpdown, volume, gas load and manifold. All these must be analyzed because of the overlap that exists among various types of pumps. We want to ensure our customers choose the right vacuum pump for their individual needs.

Vacuum pumps are used in the production of many familiar items such as, incandescent light bulbs, freeze drying of life saving pharmaceuticals, production of high strength metal alloys and many other uses too numerous to mention here. The five factors in selecting vacuum pumps are: pressure, pumpdown, volume, gas load and manifold. All these must be analyzed because of the overlap that exists among various types of pumps. We want to ensure the pumps our customers choose are the right vacuum pumps for their individual needs.

We provide repair and overhaul services for Busch vacuum pumps and boosters. All pumps are rebuilt at our suburban Chicago location and each leaves with a 90 day warranty. Busch vacuum pumps undergo disassembly, inspection and cleaning as well as total replacement of seals, bearings, vanes, gaskets and o-rings. All other parts are replaced as required for an extra charge. We also complete a test run for 24 hours, thorough draining and cleaning; two or more changes of hydrocarbon oil, painting and final tagging with re-build information. We can help with all your Busch vacuum pumps maintenance and servicing needs.

Rotary vane vacuum pumps are oil sealed pumps used for pumping clean, dry, non-reactive gases. Since oil is used as its sealant/lubricant the practical vacuum limitation for rotary vane vacuum pumps are around 5 Torr. These pumps are usually air-cooled, direct-drive 1750 rpm pumps with a small footprint for space savings. Choose from our one or two-Stage pumps, made by Travaini, Torr Vac, U.S. Vacuum Welch or Kinney. Pricing is very moderate given the vacuum they produce. With regular oil changes and periodic vane/filter changes rotary vane vacuum pumps have a better than average reliability.

Our vacuum pump oil is an excellent high grade synthetic blend that exhibit low vapor pressure and have been specially formulated for harsh duty applications. Our vacuum pump oil is refined from group 2 & 3 base stocks and has better oxidation resistance and higher thermal stability than solvent oils. These oils are an ideal choice for Rotary Piston and Rotary Vane pumps where high heat and contaminate levels are present. Also our synthetic blend is a great alternative to expensive vacuum pump oil sold by manufactures.

Kinney vacuum pumps come in several types such as liquid ring, dry vacuum, rotary vane two-stage and piston single & two-stage, and vacuum boosters. The rotary Kinney vacuum pumps are heavy duty pumps capable of producing an ultimate vacuum of .2 microns (0.0002 Torr). These are made for demanding applications where high resistance to abrasion and corrosion is required. Typical applications include air conditioning & refrigeration, evacuation, epoxy degassing, a holding pump for diffusion pumps, lasers, etc. The Liquid ring Kinney Vacuum pumps remove gasses by means of an impeller rotating freely in an eccentric casing. Various construction materials, such as cast iron casing with bronze or stainless steel impellers or all 316 stainless steel, are available on Kinney vacuum pumps to meet corrosion concerns.

Liquid ring vacuum pumps remove gasses by means of an impeller rotating freely in an eccentric casing. The pumping is done by a liquid that is fed into the pump and thrown by centrifugal force into a moving ring along the internal casing wall. The Liquid ring vacuum pumps are capable of handling high volumes of vapors, condensables and liquids, without detrimental consequences to the performance of the pump. The pump service liquid can be water or other liquids such as oils, solvents, etc. to satisfy almost any process requirements. Liquid ring vacuum pumps are made of various materials. You can choose from cast iron casing with bronze or stainless steel impellers or an all 316 stainless steel construction, for your liquid ring vacuum pumps.

Our DUOSEAL® Welch vacuum pump has many applications such as degassing oils, plastics, epoxies, refrigeration service, dehydration, backing pump for diffusion pumps, vacuum ovens and furnaces. The DUOSEAL® Welch vacuum pump is stable with high efficiency pumping below 1 Torr. Using lower pump RPM reduces internal wear compared to high speed direct-drives, as well as cool running cuts down on maintenance requirements. With many models to choose from and fewer moving parts than our competitors’ products this Welch vacuum pump has an increase in durability.

The two types of the Travaini vacuum pumps we have are rotary vane single stage and liquid ring. The single stage rotary vane Travaini vacuum pumps are air-cooled and capable of producing an ultimate vacuum of .5 Torr. The pumps carry features of compact, simple design; quiet air-cooled operation; Direct Drive; built in oil mist eliminator; anti-suck back valve. These features result in easy installation and low maintenance; no water requirements; no belt or gears to wear or loosen; 99.9% oil free exhaust and high water vapor handling capabilities. With several models to choose from, you can’t go wrong with Travaini vacuum pumps.
